Visiting Scientist CRISPR/Cas9 Protein Engineering (m/f/d)

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Engineer safer and more effective gene therapy enzymes at Bayer’s protein engineering center of excellence in Cologne, Germany
  • Collaborate on cutting edge research in a dynamic protein engineering team from diverse life science backgrounds
  • Develop and implement miniaturized assays for Cas9 nuclease engineering and characterization, including molecular biological, biochemical and mammalian cell-based assays
  • Exploit bacterial and eukaryotic systems for miniaturized high-throughput selections and screens

 

Who you are

  • PhD in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or similar, with an excellent track record of productivity
  • Extensive hands-on experience in mammalian cell-based assay development, biochemical assay development and DNA-based assay development
  • Prior experience with CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing systems and a deep understanding of its protein biochemistry and molecular biology are advantageous, as is broader experience in protein engineering
  • Next Generation Sequencing or programming skills are also of advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, outstanding analytical thinking, as well as enthusiasm for hands-on bench work have been keys to your success
  • Curiosity and a passion for research
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken

 

This is a fixed-term contract for one year.
