Senior Data Scientist in Field Trial Analytics, CropScience R&D (m/f/d)

Your tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Initiate and drive key interdisciplinary data science and field trial analytics projects, esp. to create novel scientific insights and starting points by analyzing data, sensor reads, field data on global scale by standardized automated analyses pipelines
  • Identify and evaluate unknown relationships in big and complex data to gain business-relevant insights and to realize tangible value creation
  • Turn data into a competitive advantage via co-creating novel scientific and business insights together with our agronomists to make more informed data-driven business decisions
  • Combine digital technologies, concepts and data science to innovative solutions that can develop from prototypes up to scalable enterprise solutions
  • Be a proactive and driving part of an innovative team, inspire people with new approaches and your way of thinking, and interact lively with the global Field Solution function and data science community
  • Substantially contribute to field trial analytics strategy and drive the required change process to data-driven decision making
  • Driving and executing data science strategy towards a predictive R&D pipeline
  • Ensure field trial analytics projects delivery in time, quality and budget. Closely and continuously align project work with R&D Field Solution business needs

 

Who you are

 

  • PhD in data science, computer science, visual analytics, data mining, computational biology/chemistry, mathematics, or (bio-)statistics
  • Multiple years of working experience in data science, if possible applied agriculture and field testing
  • Proven extensive knowledge of and experience in statistics, machine learning, computer vision, image analysis, digital phenotyping, R/Python, and analysis pipelines
  • Deep analytical skills and mindset to solve real-world problems with applied data science and to structure and simplify complex tasks
  • You show great commitment, self-motivation, and want to contribute to shaping the future of agriculture and precision farming
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo, push borders, and have the strong ability to adapt and to learn new skills
  • Excellent presentation, strong (influential) leadership, and communication skills and team player in multidisciplinary setups
  • Visionary, out-of-the box mindset combined with execution orientation
  • Ability to cooperate constructively within multidisciplinary international teams incl. multiple interactions with external partners (e.g. CROs, consultancies, software providers, etc.)
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written; German is a plus
