PostDoc Insect Pathology (m/f/d)

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Schedule and conduct laboratory experiments, collect, collate, graph data, and report to assay requestors regarding the results and next steps
  • Responsibility for developing or improving insect/fungal assays that assess attributes and performance of potential biological technologies, in collaboration with supervisors and other scientists/technicians
  • Support and increase the teams understanding of insect/fungal interactions and the mechanism of action (MOA) of products/isolates along with evaluating novel product concepts
  • Provide analysis and feedback about experimental results to supervisors, highlight important results and ensure stage gating experiments are carried out expeditiously
  • Represent Bayer Biologics at technical seminars, association meetings, industry conferences and scientific meetings
  • Get familiar with company portfolio gaps, in particular fungal pest management and with relevant management practices in the industry in order to provide accurate advice and input in designing a project for maximum efficiency
  • Maintain knowledge about existing and new technical developments within the industry, and regulatory/environment changes that may impact the use of new insecticide products


Who you are

  • PhD in biological science with specialization in the area of entomology, molecular biology, microbiology, mycology or similar
  • Understanding of current molecular techniques in biologics/insect pathology preferably with a strong emphasis on insect pathology
  • Proficient with MS Office and the ability to compile, summarize and publish research material as well as the ability to learn and utilize company data base programs for tracking and summarizing results
  • Curiosity and passion for research as well as the ability to achieve results even under tough circumstances
  • High self-organization including ability to work independently and without supervision as well as the ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • Ability to deliver technical information/data in a public speaking arena and in training efforts
  • Excellent communication skills and social competencies to enable interaction with key university researchers and influencers as well as with Bayer teams
  • Business fluent English skills


This is a fixed-term contract for two years.
