LSC-Project: Cell Biologist (m/f/d)
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Bayer is looking for a highly creative and motivated cell biologist (m/f/d) with expertise in high content screening or advanced microscopy to join Bayer at Lead Discovery (LD) in Wuppertal, Germany. At LST, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists within the R&D organization and contribute to the development and discovery of innovative methods that will facilitate excellence in early drug discovery. This two-year position is part of a Bayer Life Science Collaboration (LSC) program, which promotes state-of-the-art research within the global Bayer organization with special focus on cross-divisional exchange. You will closely collaborate with colleagues from Pharmaceuticals and CropScience in Europe and the US. In detail, you will:
Take over responsibility for research, design and implementation of high content screening methods
Develop and apply assays for ultra high throughput screening (uHTS) as well as analyze data for identification of novel drug candidates
Support ongoing projects in different stages such as target evaluation, lead discovery and lead optimization
Be part of an international and interdisciplinary research team, closely interacting with your colleagues from the entire R&D organization of Bayer Pharmaceuticals, CropScience, Consumer Health as well as several contract research organizations
Strengthen the visibility of the team’s research and scientific excellence through publishing and actively engaging with the internal and external scientific community
WHO YOU ARE
PhD in cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics or a related field
Excellent knowledge of cell biology, molecular biology and microscopy methods
Experience in multidimensional biological and chemical data sets as well as experience in High Content Screening is a plus
Highly creative personality with outstanding problem-solving ability and willingness to undertake challenging analysis tasks
Good communication skills as basis for efficient collaboration with scientists across disciplines
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in cross-functional international teams and the ability to adapt to the atmosphere of a dynamic research organization
Excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and written; knowledge of or willingness to learn German is a plus
This is a fixed-term contract for 2 years.
