Pollinator Safety Expert (m/f/d)

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Evaluate the potential effect of Bayer crop protection products on bee pollinators based on results from laboratory experiments and (semi-)field studies
  • Support our Bee Experimental Unit by contributing to study design, study monitoring, interpretation of results and study report review, being fully accountable for timelines and cost progress tracking
  • Conduct the bee pollinator´s risk assessment for our products by using and evaluating all available information in order to define the risk profile in order to achieve and maintain registrations for assigned projects
  • Provide scientific support in the context of products regulatory authorization, to dossier writers and risk assessors by explaining the results of the risk assessment and the choice of the mitigation measures in registration dossiers and meetings with authorities
  • Bring your expertise on bee pollinators to larger project teams by teaming up with colleagues from other disciplines (agronomists, chemists, regulators, modelers, etc.) to address the overall risk-benefit profile of new products
  • Contribute to the development of new experimental or modelling approaches to assess effects of stressors (including Bayer products) on bee pollinators
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders outside Bayer (academia, regulators, beekeepers, NGOs, other industries, farmer associations, etc.) to co-develop sustainable agro-ecological solutions that allows both to maintain high quality crop production and to enhance biodiversity at the farm level

 

 

Who you are

  • University degree in natural sciences (biology, agronomy, ecology, veterinary, etc.) with preferably a PhD or comparable experience within the above-mentioned areas of expertise
  • Experience with the development of chemical crop protection products, in-depth knowledge in the area of regulatory bee safety testing, or experience in international pollinator projects are preferred
  • Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • Ability to work in teams and first experience in project work
  • Being open-minded and challenging the status quo
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
