Ecotoxicological Expert (m/f/d) - Terrestrial Invertebrates

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Evaluate effects of Bayer crop protection products on terrestrial invertebrates (non-target arthropods and soil organisms) based on results from laboratory and field studies
  • Contribute to study design, study monitoring, result interpretation and study report review
  • Ensure that the required studies for registration of our products are initiated on time and meet the demands of authorities
  • Conduct the environmental risk assessment for our products by using and evaluating all available information in order to define the risk profile for terrestrial invertebrates
  • Provide scientific support, in the context of products regulatory authorization in Europe, to dossier writers and risk assessors by explaining the results of the risk assessment and the choice of the mitigation measures in registration dossiers
  • Contribute to the development of new experimental or modelling methods to assess effects on terrestrial invertebrates
  • Support the development of mechanistic understanding of the mode of action of our active substances and products
  • Collaborate with stakeholders outside Bayer (academia, regulators, NGOs, other industries, farmer associations, etc.) to co-develop sustainable agro-ecological solutions that allows both to maintain high quality crop production and to support biodiversity at the farm level

Who you are

  • PhD or equivalent degree in natural sciences (biology, entomology, ecotoxicology, ecology, agronomy, etc.) or comparable experience within the above-mentioned areas of expertise
  • You are familiar with the evaluation of scientific literature related to these topics
  • A good statistical background concerning the evaluation of complex datasets will be appreciated
  • Experience in an ecotoxicological contexts as well as willingness to learn more
  • Enjoy to work both in a small expert team (scientists and technical staff) and in larger multidisciplinary project teams, bringing in knowledge, ideas, cooperation skills and team spirit
  • Comfortable to work with modern technology, proficient with the standard IT applications and able to articulate ideas for the implementation and use of new digital tools
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken


Please note: this is a fixed-term contract for two years.
